 The Complete Cricketer Academy

Dear Visitor

As always, there is plenty going on at The Complete Cricketer.

The main news is that after over 10 years at the academy Lightie is stepping down from his coaching duties. He has been gradually reducing his hours over the recent years and will not be lost to cricket as he continues in club and school coaching along with less regular visits to the HPC. We thank Lightie for his amazing work over the years in developing the levels of excellence that we will continue to maintain for future generations of young cricketers.

On that note, please be reminded that dress codes need to be maintained and that players must wear the correct protective equipment when training.

We cannot wait for the season to start in full when the holidays are over. Expectations are high after some excellent work over the Winter months.

As a pre-season opener, we entered a team of U14 and U15 boys into the inaugral Fairmont HS T20 Tournament. The team did us proud by winning all six games, the tournament and a majority of the individual honours for top level performances. These included top batsman (Grant Simon), best bowler (Ben Ward) Best fielder/keeper (Vinny Mangiagalli), Players' player (Ben Ward) and Player of the tournament (Ben Ward)

All of the players contributed in all aspects of the game with individual highlights including 91 not out by Grant Simon, two hat-tricks by Ben Ward and 11 stumpings for Vinny Mangiagalli. The team spirit was phenomenal and the boys left a very positive mark on the tournament.

Our off-season and pre-season benchmarking tests have been carried out by a majority of academy players. The results have shown good improvement across the board and these can be found on the website www.thecca.co.za

The timed running between the wickets are obviously better the lower the value. The fielding beep test is better the higher the level achieved and direct hits counted. Our older players can use the running times to help them judge their running between the wickets during the season.

Keep up the hard work as we enter the most important phase of the cricket cycle.

Yours in cricket,

The Complete Cricketer
